Incorporated in 1983, the Board of Directors negotiated with the City of Fitchburg for the sale of the property located at 53-55 Lunenburg Street for a nominal fee. The Emergency Shelter formally opened on March 4, 1985, providing meals, shelter, housing search, and advocacy services in the spirit of hospitality to homeless men and women.
On February 12, 1993, Our Father’s House opened the Transitional Housing Program for homeless men in recovery at 4 Leighton Street, Fitchburg. That same year, on December 1st, the agency opened the third floor of the Lunenburg Street facility as a Transitional Shelter for homeless women.
On July 1, 2000, Our Father’s House assumed management and operation of Elizabeth House, a transitional housing program for homeless women in recovery located at 76 Mechanic Street, Fitchburg.
On September 8th, 2006, Our Father’s House assumed the management and operation of Transitions at Devens, a transitional housing program for homeless families located at Devens, MA.
